Thanks to You

As the holiday season begins, we wanted to come up with some small way to show our gratitude for the past year. Since we launched the Kickstarter for Accursed, the game community has embraced our work, and been extremely supportive of it. We're appreciative of that support, and we wanted to find some small way of expressing that gratitude. In the spirit of the buying frenzy that has now begun, we've launched a small sale on DriveThruRPG. Specifically, we've marked down the Accursed Player's Guide from it's regular price of $10 to just $1.

In order to get this price, you'll need to use the sale link.

While some people may like to buy this to sample the setting, we're also hoping that some people will use the gift option (available once the game's in your shopping cart) to send the guide to potential players or to friends who might be interested.

Happy Holidays!

Cthulhu Could be Coming?

Well, sort of...

This is certainly our silliest update ever, but, I can't resist sharing it.

Christian Lindke of Twin Suns Entertainment is currently running a Kickstarter. It's not really a gaming Kickstarter even, but it likely has plenty of appeal to most gamers. Specifically, he's running his second Kickstarter to fund the creation of Cthulhu-themed Christmas Cards. (The first one was two years ago and I loved the cards I received, as did the card recipients.)

He's just added a bonus goal to the project. If it funds, John will write a short adventure set in Morden, which features the Cthulhu Claus character as well as artwork from the Kickstarter project.

Here's the direct link to that project update:

Cthulhu Cards Kickstarter

Please be aware that this is not a permanent change to add the Old Ones into the setting. It's just a 1-shot, humorous toned adventure, that could be a fun change from the norm.

New Book and Gen Con Info

It's a week until Gen Con, so it seems like we probably should have let this information out earlier. Oops.

We've been pretty hard at work on a few different projects, and we want to share that information with you. So, let's dive into a few different bulletpoints.

Print Partnership
Melior Via has partnered with Studio 2 Publishing. They're shepherding our print releases into retail distribution through traditional hobby games stores. Accursed was our first release through this partnership and is either now available or will be available very shortly through traditional sales channels. Accursed: Ill Omens (see below) is now available for pre-order to distributors and should be available in retail stores at the end of this month (August 2014). We'll be continuing to work with them on all future print releases, and we're very excited about having this opportunity.

Accursed: Ill Omens

So, what's that you ask? The first print supplement for Accursed is an adventure package, and it's now available to distributors to pre-order through Studio 2 Publishing. This includes all of the adventures that we've released electronically to date – including the playtest one sheet that was part of the Kickstarter and that we haven't sold anywhere else yet. It's a 64 page softcover, with a MSRP of $20. Gen Con attendees will have an opportunity to purchase the book early, as Studio 2 Publishing will have it in their booth. Here's the back cover text:

Morden has fallen to the Witches, but their banes continue to prey off of the mortal survivors. This book of adventures presents a variety of different challenges for Morden’s Witchmarked heroes to overcome. New foes are introduced and locations are expanded. The adventures range in scope, with some suited to a single evening’s entertainment, while others could encompass several nights of play. Any of them can be interspersed with the Plot Point Campaign included in the Accursed core book.

Gen Con Ross, Jason, and I will all be at Gen Con, wearing a number of different hats. Because of that, none of us will be in one place consistently. However, John and Ross will both be visiting the Studio 2 Publishing booth (1317) fairly regularly. (Jason will be wearing his GM hat for FFG much of the time.) If you want to track us down, drop a message to [email protected] and we'll do our best to respond promptly and meet up with you. We're always happy to talk about Accursed.

Christmas in July Sale!

DriveThruRPG has launched their annual Christmas in July Sale. Melior Via is fully participating, and all of our electronic products are marked down by 25%. In addition, we've gone a step further and knocked 10% off of the cover price for the softcover print version of Accursed (now just $31.50!). This sale runs about a week, so if you're interested check in soon.

Of course, there are many other great publishers also offering deep discounts. The complete list takes a while to review.

Happy Un-Holidays!

Run out the Guns!

The Guns of Dagerov by Sean Patrick Fannon is now for sale on DriveThruRPG. The adventure came out to 24 pages, and we're very excited to have worked with Sean on this, creating a fun chance for PCs to confront the banes of Baba Yaga.

Marching through Steppengrad in the winter is the kind of thing only fools and Accursed would even dare. Nonetheless, the battle for the soul of the world continues, and to fight the endless monsters of the Grand Coven, man-made monsters capable of belching destruction and death are just what the Order of the Penitent requires if the tide is ever to turn. The town of Dagerov is in possession of a batch of cannons that could be just the resource the order needs. Unfortunately, the town also needs those cannons—the Accursed must try to recover them, without dooming Dagerov. !--more-->

The Guns of Dagerov is a full length adventure for a band of Witchmarked heroes in the Accursed game setting. The adventure may be played as a standalone, or it may be used with the Plot Point Campaign included in Accursed. The adventure follows a three act structure, while also providing details on Dagerov and its peoples in Steppengrad. It includes necessary game mechanics and opportunity for tasks that can be resolved in a variety of ways.

Here's a quick look at some of the artwork:

The Guns of Dagerov is just $6.00 in PDF from DriveThruRPG.

Sand and Stone Released!

We've just put Sand and Stone by Chris Avellone and George Ziets up for sale on DriveThruRPG. The book came out to 30 pages, and we're excited to have this opportunity to expand the information available about the game setting.

Since the colonization of Morden, Hebron and Hyphrates shared an enmity. In part, this was because of their nearness and competition for many resources. Their cultural differences, however, served to intensify the division as well. Hebronites are generally far more devoted to family, while Hyphratians tend to embrace personal goals. These differences often triggered misunderstandings and hostilities between the two cultures, leading to an endless series of conflicts. Much of this was swept aside in the face of the Grand Coven, when all the nations of Morden cooperated under the banner of the Armies of Light.

Friday the 13th Sale!

Today's the last day of our Post a Pic get a PDF special. We've gotten a great response to that already, and we're excited to see your pictures. But, we wanted to do more, so we're adding in another bonus.

It's Friday the 13th. That's a big deal for Accursed. So, we wanted to have a big sale. 13% off seemed like too little. Doubling that to 26% still wasn't enough. So, we've marked down all of our eBooks in the Accursed line to 39% off. That means our one sheets are only $0.76 and the Accursed setting book is only $12.20. If you're interested in the setting, it's a great time to grab it.

Post a Pic, Get a PDF

Tomorrow's Friday the 13th, and that's a big day for Accursed. We just love the idea of ill-luck that goes with it and we want to celebrate it. Today's also Origins Game Fair in Columbus. We're excited about that too, even though the creative team won't be there, Studio 2 Publishing has Accursed available in print at their booth. So, we wanted to celebrate that too. We recognize that not everybody can be at the convention, so we wanted to do something that gives people a chance to enjoy our celebration.

Half-Light Now Available

Colin McComb's 1-sheet adventure, Half-Light, is now available on DriveThruRPG. With 2 pages of content, this one is a more traditional length 1-sheet adventure than our last one. Here's the brief description:

A bloody assault on a mountainside church in the Highlands near the border of Blackroot Wode has horrified the valley! Distant clan-cousins paid a visit on the small sept who made their home in Whitetarn Village on the shores of the Cloven Loch in western Cairn Kainen, and discovered instead a scene of horror. The village has been sacked and the villagers slaughtered.

Long Dead and Twice Slain

We've just put the first of the 1-sheet adventures up for sale on DriveThru, and sent out the associated coupon codes to our Kickstarter Backers. (Well, to backers who had selected the 1-sheet pack as an add-on.) Note that this is a bit longer than we'd intended. So, it's actually 10 pages. Perhaps calling it a 1-sheet is a misnomer?

A Sale and a Promotion!

We wanted to share two different promotions that might be of interest to folks who enjoy Melior Via's products, including Accursed and Hope Prep.

The first item is that DriveThruRPG is currently running a 14% off "We Love Games" sale. This includes all of Melior Via's electronic releases (along with the work of a whole lot of other publishers as well). If you've been thinking about grabbing Accursed or any of our Hope Prep releases, now's the time to strike. The Accursed PDF is now just $17.20. CLICK HERE for the direct link to the full library of Melior Via products.

Secondly, as hard as it might be to believe, Gen Con event submission has been going strong for a while. Pinnacle Entertainment Group has a great deal to support GMs willing to run Savage Worlds games. Interestingly enough, they don't care what setting you use for their games. Obviously, we're kind of interested in folks specifically running Accursed game events. If you decide that you'd like to run at least 1 session of Accursed, let us know when your game is approved and appears in the event lists. We'll get you a T-Shirt to wear when you're running it. (That's in addition to the goodies that Pinnacle provides.)

Patchwork now available!

Mel Odom's novella Patchwork is now available. This is the second novella funded by Kickstarter that uses the Accursed setting. We're thrilled to be able to release it! It's now available for sale on DriveThruRPG for just $4.99 in both .ePub and .mobi (Kindle) format.

Patchwork opens when Martin van Schattierung awakens within a mass grave, as grave robbers disturb his rest. The flesh golem is confused by his existence as an Accursed and shocked to learn that the Bane War ended fifty years ago. He must work to uncover his past at the same time as he attempts to find his way in a world so different from the one he remembers.

Mel Odom is an author of well over a hundred novels in a broad range of genres. This includes works based upon the Shadowrun, Forgotten Realms, and Top Secret role-playing game settings, as well as licensed fiction in the worlds of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Diablo, and NCIS. In addition to writing, he teaches at the University of Oklahoma.

The Festival at Glenelg Now Available!

The Festival at Glenelg is a novella set in the world of Accursed. It tells the story of Erik Nygaard, a bard who also happens to be a Dhampir. When the festival he is attending is joined by a contingent of cauldron-born in service to the Morrigan, Erik must decide if he should flee on his own or attempt to battle the banes and perhaps redeem his soul.

Penned by Richard Lee Byers, who is the author of over thirty fantasy and horror novels, including a number set in the Forgotten Realms universe. A resident of the Tampa Bay area, the setting for many of his horror stories, he spends much of his free time fencing and playing poker.

$4.99 in both epub and mobi format from DriveThruRPG. Also available from the Amazon Kindle store.
